[ PARK24's CSR ]

Since its establishment, PARK24 has sought to develop its operations with a strong recognition of the close relationship that parking facilities businesses have with society and their duty to serve the public good in today's automotive society. Under a corporate slogan of ""People, Cars, Communities, and (Times)," PARK24 is carrying out activities to create a comfortable motorized society and address social issues through parking facilities businesses.

[ Activities for the Environment and Communities ]

PARK24 carries out activities that emphasize the reduction of its ecological footprint and coexistence with communities. We base this on our vision of people-friendly communities that are also comfortable and convenient for drivers.

Providing people-friendly parking facilities

-Establishing "Heart Spaces"

-Setting up priority spaces for vehicles with an elderly sign

We have established parking spaces where women and the elderly are given priority access to spaces that are larger than the average and so are easiest for drivers to use.

We have set up priority spaces for elderly drivers in places close to exits and entrances where they can park their vehicles comfortably.

-Laying snow-melting plates

-Installing AEDs*1

We have laid snow-melting plates in snowy areas to prevent accidents and reduce gas emissions.

So that customers can use Times parking facilities with peace of mind, we have installed AED automated external defibrillators. (Times Station Ikebukuro)

Providing parking facility services to make driving more comfortable

-Providing information on availability

-Promoting Park & Charge

We provide information on the location of Times parking facilities and vacant spaces through the Web, mobile phones, and car navigation systems. This alleviates traffic congestion caused by vehicles driving about in search of a parking space.

We have been providing the Park & Charge service since 1998 to facilitate the spread of electric vehicles. Since drivers can charge their batteries in Times while underway, they can extend mileage without anxiety.

-Pushing forward with Park-and-Ride*2

-Expanding car sharing

When drivers hold up their traffic-system IC cards, such as Suica*3 and PASMO*4, to payment machines, reduced parking fees will apply in accordance with their train-use history. The service seamlessly links public transportation systems and areas around stations.

We are expanding car sharing, which offers an alternative way to use vehicles, especially in the Tokyo area. Car sharing will curb the excessive use of vehicles and help mitigate environmental problems.

Creating environment-friendly communities by providing parking facilities

-Expanding Times

-Verification testing for heat-suppressing surfaces

By expanding Times, we help reduce roadside parking, which will in turn reduce environmental pollution and traffic accidents.

We have prepared three types of surfaces recognized as having heat-suppressing properties within Times parking facilities. We measure temperature changes on each surface under the same sunlight conditions and examine their durability and other aspects to study their feasibility in parking facilities.

Other activities for society

-Donations to the Foundation for Orphans from Automobile Accidents

We convert points chosen by customers and part of the lapsed points in the Times Club membership point incentive program provided by Park24 and donate them with part of the amount paid by Times Business Cards, cashless settlement cards exclusively for companies, on August 9 (Parking Day) every year.

-Displaying picture panels drawn by kindergarten children

Using parking facility walls, PARK24 has set up panels of pictures drawn by children of a kindergarten that is a tenant of Cocolot Tsurugamine. This offers a relaxing place for parents taking their children to and from the kindergarten and for people who are commuting or shopping. (Times Station Cocolot Tsurugamine)

-Encouraging drivers to stop idling

Park24 encourages drivers to stop idling within parking facilities.

*1 Automated external defibrillator (AED): An AED is medical equipment certified under the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law. It automatically surveys the cardiac rhythm of the patient, determines whether an irregular cardiac rhythm requires defibrillation and gives specific instructions when defibrillation is necessary.
*2 Park-and-Ride: Drivers park their cars at parking facilities near stations and use public transportation systems such as trains, helping to mitigate congestion in areas where traffic is concentrated and improve the environment.
*3 Suica: Registered trade name of East Japan Railway Company
*4 PASMO:Registered trade name of Pasmo Corp.

[Awareness-building activities]

-Parking Day

"We would like people to think about the social problems caused by roadside parking at least for one day a year." Based on this desire, PARK24 registered August 9 as Parking Day in 1998. If drivers are aware of the day, and if their awareness of roadside parking increases, we believe roadside parking will be reduced, which will in turn mitigate congestion and reduce traffic accidents. We are thus carrying out awareness-building activities through our website and e-mail newsletters to Times Club members.

Creating a Society without Roadside Parking

 < Roadside parking today >
Although roadside parking is said to be decreasing with each year, the number of cars that temporarily parked on the roadside in the two major metropolitan areas of Tokyo and Osaka still exceed 160,000 at any one time. Illegally parked cars account for about 80% of this number. Illegally parked vehicles cause environmental issues and traffic accidents.
< Implications for the environment >
Roadside parking slows traffic and causes congestion, reducing traffic capacity by up to 40%. Additional gas emissions lead to environmental pollution and global warming as well as reduced mileage.
< Implications for traffic accidents >
Roadside parking causes collisions and accidents involving pedestrians whose views of oncoming traffic are blocked by parked vehicles. Vehicles parked on the roadside also hinder emergency vehicles.
